Experience the North Sea shrimp

Come shrimp fishing in Ostend with your team, group of friends, or association. We have the only 8-meter-wide shrimp net on the coast. You will receive waders and a yellow oilskin jacket. Before entering the water, you will learn how to read the sea. You will prepare the trawl net and step into the sea side by side. A unique team-building experience where you will feel and taste the sea. It is not just shrimp fishing but also longe-côte or sea wading, a rising trend.

Shrimp fishing takes place in the surf zone, where the waves break. Two guide-animators ensure safety and provide explanations about the catch. Do you know what a weever fish is, which jellyfish sting, how to safely hold a crab, and the difference between a turbot and a plaice? We fish with respect for nature.

After shrimp fishing, you can relax with a drink while listening to anecdotes about fishermen and taking a visual journey into the life of a shrimp.

A combo teambuilding is possible. Team members who prefer not to go into the sea can book the 'Teambuilding Beach Walk'. This walk is centered around 'Experience the North Sea Shrimp', the catches are examined together, and the experience ends with an Après-Fish, accompanied by a drink.

Please note: The best shrimp fishing season is in autumn. We cannot guarantee that the shrimp will be cooked. The catch depends on the season, wind, water temperature, currents, and more. But rest assured, our experienced guide-animators always make it a unique experience.

Beach Walk

Breathe in the salty air, let the wind play with your hair, walk barefoot through the sand, and discover the treasures of the sea!

The Oosteroever in Ostend is a unique nature reserve. Few people, natural dunes, no mechanical beach cleaning. Everything is in place for a wonderful nature walk with a high chance of finding beach treasures and marine life. Where do oysters come from? Which shells are used in paella? Which seaweeds are edible? Which jellyfish sting? Let’s search together for the most beautiful shell on our coast, the "Wenteltrapje"! Discover the creatures that live on and under the sand: hermit crabs, lugworms, amphipods… And what about all the sand that is washed up on the beach? And the rising sea levels? The guide-animator will answer all your questions.

Let us know what your interests are (nature, beach finds, rising sea levels, etc.), and the guide-animator will tailor the experience to make it both educational and enjoyable.

Afterwards, enjoy a drink while sharing stories and listening to anecdotes about fishermen, along with a multimedia presentation on the life of the shrimp.

A teambuilding combination is possible. Team members who prefer not to enter the sea can book the "Teambuilding Beach Walk". During this walk, participants will explore the "Experience the North Sea Shrimp" activity, observe the catches together, and enjoy the Après-Fish with a drink afterward.
