Discover life in the North Sea!
Put on a pair of waders and a yellow oilskin jacket and head to the beach. Before entering the water, you'll learn how to "read" the sea: why should you watch out for holes in the sand, and what is an undercurrent? Once you understand these principles, you're ready to face the sea. You'll prepare the dragnet and step into the water side by side.
Shrimp fishing happens in the surf zone, right where the waves break! This is where flatfish, crabs, shrimp and other marine creatures breed and grow. The contents of the net will give you a fascinating glimpse into the rich marine life of the North Sea.
You'll examine and identify the catch. Do you know what a weever fish is, and can you tell the difference between a turbot and a plaice? Other marine life, such as crabs and starfish, will also be part of the discovery. Afterwards, the catch is released back into the sea, except for the shrimp that are large enough, which are sieved out and kept for cooking.
Would you like to taste (literally and figuratively) the richness of marine life?
Please note: We cannot guarantee the cooking of the shrimp, as the catch depends on the season, timing and other factors. Additionally, we practice sustainable fishing. The primary goal of this activity is educational.
The difference with the "Experience the North Sea Shrimp" teambuilding activity is that this version focuses more on the experience and biodiversity of the catch in the net. This activity can be booked from April 1st.
